Obituary for Dennis John Herrmann

June 7, 1948 - April 8, 2018

Dennis John Herrmann, 69, of Maynard, died Sunday, April 8, 2018, at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

He was born June 7, 1948, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Vincent and Arlene Fitz Herrmann. He married Hilda Grewer in 1971, they later divorced. He then married Jan Dee on December 24, 1996, in Rosehill, Kansas.

Dennis was a veteran of the United States Army, after his service he became employed with John Deere where he stayed for 30 years, retiring in 1999.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Gerald (Vicky) Herrmann of Corpus Christi, Texas; five daughters, Norma (Don) Weathermon of Waterloo; Ethel Baumgartner of Waterloo; Carol (Bob) Burton of Waterloo; Dixie (Randy) Burk of Cedar Falls, and Angela (Juan) Herrmann of Schertz, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Kenny of Sumner, Michael of Shell Rock, Victor (Becky) of Parkersburg, Dick of Fredericksburg and Jim (Sharon) of New Hampton; six sisters, Judy (Dave) Rohwedder of Waverly, Mardelle (Craig) Mehmen of Waverly, Linda (Mike) McDaniels of Sumner, Lynnette (Dennis) Miller of Fredericksburg, Jolene (Al) Scroggins of Mich., and Donna Tietz of Fredericksburg.

He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Baumgartner; a brother Gerald Herrmann, and a grandson in infancy, Shane.

Public Visitation will be 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 13 at the Fraternal Oder of Eagles, 2125 W. Lone Tree Rd, Cedar Falls where there will be a 2 p.m. prayer service followed by full military rites conducted by the Iowa Army Honor Guard and the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway is assisting the family.
