Robert "Bob" Hardman

May 24, 1936 - March 25, 2018

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Robert “Bob” Hardman, 81, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, March 25, 2018 at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls.

He was born May 24, 1936, in Cumberland, Maryland, the son of Walter and Stella (Gordon) Hardman. He married Becky Lewis on December 31, 1959 in Winchester, Virginia.

He graduated from Maryland State College in Frostburg, MD, and received his Masters and Doctorate degrees from the University of Indiana. He was a professor and Director of Information Technology at the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 1999. He served as past President of Cedar Falls Rotary Club and Cedar Falls Historical Society.

He was an active member of the University of Northern Iowa Emeritus Association and Cedar Valley O Scale Modelers and was appointed three terms on the Iowa Communications and Technology Commission. He was named Cedar Falls Citizen of the Year and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls.

Survived by: his wife of Cedar Falls; a son, Clint Hardman of Cedar Falls; and two grandsons, Tyler and Jake Hardman.

Preceded in death by: a son, Thomas L. Hardman.

Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 29, at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Inurnment at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.
