Biography

Marilyn Lucile Desmond of Cedar Falls, died on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home at the age of 80. She was born November 12, 1937 on Oakland, CA, daughter of Richard Holm and Evelyn Kopyn Price.

Marilyn graduated from Hayward High School in Hayward, CA in 1955.

Marilyn married John Desmond on November 12, 1955 in Hayward, CA; he preceded her in death on July 25, 2010.

Marilyn worked as a medical transcriptionist at Schoitz/St.Francis/Covenant Hospitals from 1982 to 1987 until going to work as a word processor at AEA 267.

Marilyn was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Black Hawk County, and where at one time, she was a member of the caring committee.

Marilyn is survived by a son, Dennis (Rita) Desmond of Buderim, New Queensland, Australia, a daughter, Justine Desmond of Urbandale, IA, three Granddaughters: Crystal (Eric) Hanson, Nicole (James Kleiner) Arends and Rachel Button, five great-grandchildren: Kevin and Logan Hanson and Makenzie, Jeremiah and John Kleiner, and a sister Laurel Price of Totnes, Devon, United Kingdom.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
