Biography--

Dorothy L. Perry, 93, of La Porte City, Iowa, died at home on Monday, March 19, 2018.

Dorothy was born on April 23, 1924 in St. Hilaire, Minnesota, daughter of Ellis Howard & Lena L. (Hitt) Stephens.

She graduated from high school in La Porte City.

Dorothy married Floyd L. Perry on June 3, 1947, in Waterloo. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2005.

Dorothy was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Washburn, the church women’s group, Farm Bureau Women, and Black Hawk County Extension.

Survived by two sons, Donald (Julie) Perry of Waterloo, and John (Kim) Perry of La Porte City; two daughters, Linda (Larry) Griffee, of Evansdale and Betty Kies of Vinton; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and her dog, Sam.

Preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Gerald, Delford, Stanley, Robert and Joe Stephens; and three sisters: Neva Nielsen, Mary Timmerman, and Ethel in infancy.

Dorothy loved the family farm, the animals, gardening, cooking and most of all – her family. She had a zest for life and went skydiving at age 80.
