Obituary for Patricia A. Werning

Patricia A. “Pat” Werning, 82, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Sunday, March 18, at Ravenwood Specialty Care.

She was born May 18, 1935 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Virginia Standford Kehe. She married Willis Werning February 11, 1984 in West Union. He died in 1990.

Pat worked at Herrick Manufacturing, River Hills School, Key VII, Country View and Hawkeye Community College. She was Past President of the Civitan Club, a coach for Special Olympics, an advocate at Country View and an organizer of dances for adults with disabilities. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and Grace Fellowship Church.

Survivors include a foster son, Dean Lockard of Waterloo; a foster daughter, Janet Knebel of Dumont; and many, many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and by two foster daughters, Gina Warren and Carol McFarland.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 22, at Grace Fellowship Church with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and at the church for an hour before services on Thursday.

Memorials may be directed to Grace Fellowship Church.
