Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church

Visitation:
Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday at the Locke Funeral Home with a
4:00pm Rosary and 6:30 Vigil Service.

Cemetery:
Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo

Memorials:
Memorials are directed to the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or to Cedar Valley Hospice

Biography--

Fred W. Mettner, 89, died on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Pinnacle Specialty Care, Cedar Falls.

He was born September 3, 1928, in Waterloo, son of Fredrick W. and Gertrude A. Haupt Mettner. Fred graduated from West High School.

He married Marjorie M. Steils on May 9, 1953 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She died on January 30, 2006. He worked for Rath Meat Packing Co. Then he worked for John Deere for 27 yrs. in the foundry, Stock Room and at PEC, retiring in 1993.

Fred is survived by his two daughters, Kimberly Mettner of Waterloo and Tamara (Will) Prien of Washburn; a son, Michael (Margaret) Mettner of Washburn; by four grandchildren: Holly (Aaron) Meyer, Jarred Mettner, Emiliann and Rachel Flores; by step grandchildren: Travis (Cindy) Prien, Nick (Marisol) Prien and Laura (Andrew) Freeman; and by great-grandson: Logan Frederick Meyer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, four sisters and a brother.
