Karla Jorgensen, 71, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, and Ferguson, Missouri, died at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, in Waterloo, on Friday, February 23, 2018, from complications of Parkinson's Disease.

She was born on February 11, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Karl E. III and Eleda C. Behle Hofer.

Karla married Keith Jorgensen on October 24, 1970 in St. Louis, MO.

She graduated from McCluer High School in 1965 and received her BA in education from Northwest Missouri State University in 1969. Karla taught 3rd grade students at Griffith Elementary in Ferguson, MO; later was Director of Christian Education at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Waterloo; and was a Sales Associate at Herberger’s Dept. Store in Waterloo.

Karla was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Waterloo and former member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ferguson; Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority; P.E.O.; and served as Docent for the Waterloo Jr. Art Gallery. Karla had many interests and was a life long learner. She enjoyed cross‑stitching, reading, painting, scrapbooking, ice skating, traveling, as well as baking cookies (her chocolate chip and Christmas cookies).

She is survived by her husband, Keith of Cedar Falls, daughter: Karin (Scott) Oelzen of Ferguson, daughter: Kami Jorgensen of Clear Lake, grandson: Gunnar Oelzen, brother: Bill Hofer of Sycamore, IL, and several nieces and nephews.

Karla is preceded by her parents and a sister‑in‑law, Barbara Hofer.
