Donald Joseph Pint

February 2, 1929 - February 9, 2018

Donald Joseph Pint, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, February 9, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

He was born February 2, 1929, in Gilbertville, son of Joseph and Cecelia Bloes Pint. He married Carol Jean Golinvaux, she died in 1962. He then married Mary Jo Ambrosy on April 24, 1965 at St. Mary’s of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Eagle Center.

Don earned the rank of Sergeant First Class in the United States Army, serving in Korea as a Combat Engineer from 1950-1952. He then worked for John Deere as a Journeyman Patternmaker for over 39 years, retiring in 1987.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Monique (George) Walters of Waterloo; a son, Donald Joseph II (Emily) Pint of Olney, Texas; six grandchildren, George William, Grace Theresa, and Henry Joseph Walters, Noah Edward, Donald Joseph III, and Victoria Marie Pint; two brothers, Jim (Mary Jean) of Waterloo and Gary (Jeanie) of Elk Run Heights; a sister, Mary Brice of Gilbertville; and two sisters-in-law Judy Pint of Georgia and Elsie Pint of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anne Kathryn Walters; six brothers: Loren, Dwywan (Bernice), Leonard (Jackie), Stanley, Lavern, and Robert; and by two sisters, Dona Mae Borrelli and Teresa (Claire) Lovell.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 15 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cedar Falls with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Gilbertville where full military rites will be conducted by the Iowa Army Honor Guard and the Cedar Falls AMVETs Post 49. Public visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 14 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup on South Street where there will be a 4 p.m. Rosary. Visitation will continue for one hour before services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, Cedar Falls AMVETs post 49 and St. Patricks Catholic Church.
