Biography--

Alvera M. Mixdorf, 88, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at Lakeview Landing of Friendship Village, on Thursday, February 8, 2018, of natural causes.

Alvera was born on May 31, 1929 in Wright County, Iowa, the daughter of Louis & Clara (Thelke) Lentz.

She graduated from Eldora High School.

Alvera married Richard William Mixdorf on May 13, 1951 in Eldora. He preceded her in death on February 12, 2007.

She worked for Rath Packing Co, and then Black's Department Store, and then Twin Cities Plasma Center, until retirement.

Alvera was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survived by her daughter, Connie (David) Christians of North Liberty; a son, David (Cindy) Mixdorf of Waterloo; and five grandsons, Michael Christians of Iowa City, Mark Christians of Hiawatha, Scott (Kayti) Mixdorf of Altus, OK, Andrew (Randi) Mixdorf of Kansas City, MO, and Jason Mixdorf of Detroit, MI.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a brother, Leland Lentz.

Alvera’s grandsons meant everything to her.
