Biography--

Gail Lee Tansey, 85, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and formerly of Evansdale, Iowa, died at Martin Health Center of Western Home Community on Sunday, February 4, 2018, of natural causes.

He was born on December 21, 1932, in Alden, MN; the son of Lee E. & Ruth (Reed) Tansey. Gail attended Waterloo East High School.

He married Virginia Naomi Feller on June 13, 1952 in Evansdale; she preceded him in death on July 11, 2007.

Gail worked as a machinist for John Deere & Co., he retired in 1972; he had also farmed for many years.

He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Waterloo, where he was very involved in general maintenance and upkeep. He was also a member of UAW Local 838 and Good Sam’s Camping Club. Gail’s faith in Christ came first. He enjoyed gardening, camping, and loved to play jokes. Gail was the recipient of the Governor’s Volunteer Award.

Survivors include two sons, Randall (Phyllis) Tansey of Brandon, IA and Richard (Julie) Tansey of Waterloo, IA; three daughters, Christine (Timothy) Johnson of Wasilla, AK, Cynthia (Scott) Mealhow of Jesup, and Colleen (Neil) Walvatne of Waterloo; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and two more on the way; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Margaret Danielson and Beverly Smock-Witt, and a brother, David Tansey.

The family would like to thank Gail’s Western Home family for their love and care over the past 16 years.

Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Grace Baptist Church: 3820 Hammond Ave, Waterloo, Iowa

Visitation:
4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, February 9 at Kearns Funeral Service

Memorial Park Cemetery
