Rachel Joan McNeil, 88, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Ravenwood Specialty Care, of natural causes.
Rachel was born March 31, 1929 in Waterloo, daughter of Walter G. and Bertha D. (Engelking) Meyer. She received her associate’s degree at DMACC.
She married Donald Mingus in 1946; they were later divorced. She then married Ralph McNeil in 1970. He preceded her in death in 1978.
Rachel worked for KVI Insurance in Des Moines for many years. Following her retirement in 1980, she moved to Waterloo.
She is survived by: four sons: Dennis Mingus of Colorado, Stephen (Sherri) Mingus of Waterloo, Stanley Mingus of Waterloo, and Scott Mingus of Osage; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; two sisters, Verona Marske and Betty Petsche; and a brother, Lou Meyer.
