Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 650 Stephan Avenue in Waterloo

Visitation:
Tuesday, January 30 at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, 3146 Kimball Ave. in Waterloo where a parish scripture service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday at the Church.

Biography--

Patricia M. “Patty” Knebel, age 93, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the Western Home Theusen Cottage in Cedar Falls,Iowa.

She was born March 8, 1924, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Grace (Hurst) Beagles. Patty attended Charles City Schools and was united in marriage with Melvin Knebel on October 21, 1950 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo. He preceded her in death on September 21, 2009.

Patty was employed at Maxine’s Evansdale Grocery, Rath Packing Company and was a homemaker. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where she served in the Rosary Society and had taught CCD classes. Patty was a volunteer at Covenant Medical Center gift shop for over 30 years and also volunteered at the UAW Local 838 Union Hall. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, working crossword puzzles, reading, traveling and spending time sharing coffee and visiting with friends.

Survivors include a son, David (Patti) Knebel of Cedar Falls; four daughters: Becky (Mel Taylor) Werner of Evansdale, Kris Knebel of Cedar Falls, Nancy (Dan) Higgins of Evansdale and Kathie (Craig) Stevens of DeSoto, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Brooke (Mike), Brent (Chris), Brian (Tiffany), Kelsy, Luke, Dane (Rhandi), Abby (Bill) and Tyler; four great-grandchildren: Risa, Noah, Emersyn, Jaxon and a great-grandson due in March; a sister, Barbara Maroney of Oklahoma City, OK and a sister-in-law, Mary Knebel of Jesup.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Betty Rist and three brothers, Arnold, David and Ernest “Junior” Beagles.
