Obituary for Chris Toneff

Chris Toneff, 71, of Dunkerton, Iowa, died Friday, January 26 at Unity Point Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.

He was born November 1, 1946 in Waterloo, the son of VJ and Rose Dragonava Toneff.

He married Colleen Kay Sadler on June 5, 1976 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Barclay Township. She died April 6, 2016.

Chris was a member of the United States Army as well as the Peter Kress American Legion Post 636 in Dunkerton. He worked as a pipe fitter at the University of Northern Iowa until his retirement and was also a lifelong farmer.

Survivors include a daughter, Cindy (Dave) Pint of Jesup; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Toneff of Dunkerton; a son, Chad (Jessica) Toneff of Dunkerton; seven grandchildren, Dylan Thorn, Brooklyn and Kaden Pint, Delaney and Reegan Toneff and Calen and Alison Toneff; parents-in-law Lawrence and Genevieve Weiden Sadler of Dunkerton; a brother, James of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters Mary Ann Miller of Dewar, Iowa and Patricia Smyers of Hendersonville, N.C.
Preceded in death by his wife and a son, Chris J. Toneff; and a brother-in-law, Dennis Miller.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Barclay Township where full military rites will be conducted by the Peter Kress American Legion Post 636 at the conclusion of the service. Private family inurnment in St. Francis Cemetery, Barclay will take place at a later date. Public visitation will be from 4-7 pm Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo. Visitation will continue for an hour before services at the church.

Chris was also known as the guy to call if you had any plumbing problems.
