Richard A. “Dick” Zeschke

September 1, 1931 - January 24, 2018

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Richard A. “Dick” Zeschke, 86, of Cedar Falls died Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at his home.

He was born September 1, 1931 in Defiance, Ohio, son of William Donald and Berta Maxwell (Ayers) Zeschke. He married Jacquelin Chivers on September 4, 1954 in Des Moines and they later divorced. He then married Patricia “Patti” Blohm Ressler on October 3, 1980 in Cedar Falls.

He was a Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force, serving from 1951 to 1972. Following his military service, he was an insurance adjuster with Danish Mutual-Brummel & Madsen Insurance, retiring in 2006. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls.

Dick is survived by his wife, Patti of Cedar Falls; sons: Chris (Mandy) Zeschke of Kaysville, UT, Pete Zeschke of Cedar Falls, and Paul Zeschke of Waterloo; daughters: Diane (Edward) Green of Cedar Rapids, Debbie (Randy) Robeson of Waterloo, Dawn Newgren of Cedar Falls, and Michelle (Ron) Niedert of Elgin, OK; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, with two on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a great-grandson, Dayton Burke.

Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29 at First Presbyterian Church with inurnment in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49 Honor Guard and the US Air Force Funeral Honors Detail. Visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28 at Richardson Funeral Service and also for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or UnityPoint Hospice.
