Rex Tex Streblow, age 80, of Waterloo, died at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home on Sunday, January 14, 2018 of natural causes.
He was born on March 8, 1937, in Howard County, Iowa; the son of Orrin Franklin and Agnes Pauline Snyder Streblow. He served in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge on June 12, 1957.
Rex married Sandra "Kay" McCombs on July 27, 1958 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
He had worked at Diesch Construction for 15 years; and then as a welder at John Deere & Co., retiring in 1999.
He was a member of UAW Local 838. He enjoyed dirt track racing, especially outlaw late models and sprint cars. He was a jack of all trades and spent time rebuilding cars, repairing computers, and could fix anything. He cherished time with his family and grandchildren. He also liked to camp, travel, cook and watch college football.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra "Kay" Streblow; a daughter, Kim (Dan) Utley of Waterloo; a son, Jeff Streblow of Waterloo; a son, Mike (Julie) Streblow of Sheffield; a daughter, Kris Streblow of Waterloo; five grandchildren: Ashley Utley, Nic (Katie) Utley, Shealen (Jesse Comstock) Streblow, Dalton (Alexis Daily) Streblow, and Spencer Streblow; and four great grandchildren: Sophia, Sierra, Aaron, and Lydia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary Cameron and Belle Maxfield; a niece, Rita; and a nephew, Earl.
