Obituary for Robert "Bob" R. Rogers

Robert “Bob” R. Rogers, 87, of Evansdale, Iowa, died Saturday, January 13, at home.

He was born August 31, 1930, in Duncombe, the son of Franklin and Retha Burger Rogers. He married Janette Limberg on November 6, 1954 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Waterloo.

Bob served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He and his wife owned and operated Sno Cap Root Beer Stand in Cedar Falls. He was employed with Illinois Central Railroad, John Deere and then farmed for thirty-three years.

Survivors include: his wife, Janette of Evansdale; three sons, Steven (Jane) Rogers of Cedar Falls, Jeffrey (Lisa) Rogers of Dewar, and Patrick (Jane) Rogers of West Des Moines; a daughter, Linette (Kevin) Lobeck of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother, Marshall (Connie) Rogers of South Fort Myers, Fla; a sister, Retha Cheryl “Suzi”(Arnold) Kruger of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by: his son, Todd; two brothers, Charles Rogers and Richard Rogers; a brother-in-law, Donald Brumm.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 19, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with entombment at the Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by Waterloo Amvets Post 19 and Evansdale Amvets Post 31, assisted by the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Public visitation from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street where there will be a 4 p.m. Legion of Mary Rosary. Visitation also one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
