Biography--

Richard “Dick” Hinz, 78, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.

Dick was born October 30, 1939 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Harry W. & Gladys K. (Faust) Hinz.

He married Cora Neely on July 2, 1963 in Janesville, Iowa. Dick served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1964. He was a supervisor at John Deere for 34 years retiring January 1, 2000. Dick was a member of Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.

Survivors include his wife, Cora, of Cedar Falls; four sons, Greg (Teri) Hinz of Coal Valley, Illinois, David (Patti) Hinz of Waterloo, Dan (Stephanie) Hinz of Marion, Iowa and Chadwick (Kelly) Hinz of Garner, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren, Kathi (Tony) Nizzi, Cody (Whitney) Hinz, Becki, Jessi, Sam, Adam, Ben, Madeline, Kate, Anthony, Meredith Hope and Malia Hinz, Michael Hall and Angie (Darin) Brincks; five great grandchildren, Hayden, Parker, Willie, Cody and Elliott; one brother, Harold Hinz of Janesville; and three sisters, Marcy (Kenny) Kristensen of Hudson, Jane Martin and Rose (Chuck) DeMuth of Waterloo.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gerald and Dale Hinz.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Private interment will be at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens with full military honors by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be from noon to service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
