Barbara Kay Schwickerath

Barbara Kay Schwickerath (Tordsen) was born on July 29, 1952, to her beloved parents Glenn and Meta (Dahms) Tordsen in Springfield, Minnesota. The family moved to the Waterloo area in 1961.
Barbara spent the majority of her life working in the food industry.

She married the love of her life, Donald Schwickerath, on May 3, 1980 and the two spent many wonderful years together. She enjoyed crafting pottery and painting ceramics in her free time. Most of all, Barbara loved spending time with her family.

Barbara Kay Schwickerath passed away on Saturday, January 06, 2018, at Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls, Iowa, at the age of 65.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Barbara is survived by her husband, Donald; sister, Sandy Hunemuller of Cedar Falls, brother-in-law, Steve Hunemuller of Cedar Falls, and sister, Julie (Dennis) Stanek of Denver, Iowa; one niece, Brianna Stanek of Waterloo; three nephews: Troy (Andrea) Hunemuller of Cedar Falls, Ryan Hunemuller of Cedar Falls, and Brett Stanek of Denver, Iowa; one great nephew, Jacob Hunemuller; and one great niece, Lauren Hunemuller. To celebrate Barbara’s life, the family will be holding a private family service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed towards St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice.
