Louie G. Cutshall

October 13, 1923 - January 7, 2018

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Louis G. “Louie” Cutshall, 94, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, January 7, 2018, at the Western Home Communities-Martin Center.

Louie was born October 13, 1923, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Charles and Lillian Gunstead Cutshall. He married Joyce Gustafson November 15, 1952, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1941 and Iowa State Teachers College in 1950 with a bachelor of arts degree in business. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, serving on a LST during the Normandy Invasion and in the Pacific Ocean. He worked as an Engineer with the Illinois Central Railroad until his retirement in 1984.

Survived by: his wife of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Cathie (Greg Dietz) Schaefer and Christi (Gary) Shoemaker, both of Waterloo; two granddaughters, Mackenzie Schaefer and Hannah Shoemaker, both of Waterloo; and great granddaughter, Piper.

Preceded by: two sisters, Beryl Berntsen and Florence Moser and two brothers, Bob and Paul Cutshall.

Services 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with inurnment at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls. Memorial contributions may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the Western Home Foundation.
