Obituary for Mary Eileen Cox

Mary Eileen Cox, 87, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Thursday, December 28, at the Martin Center of the Western Home Communities.

She was born November 17, 1930, in Volga, the daughter of Kenneth and Lera Horton Robinson. She married Francis “Bud” Cox on August 28, 1950, in Volga and he died January 8, 2010.

Mary was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Ken of Cedar Falls and John of Waterloo; two daughters, Kathy (Robb) Bevis of Prior Lake, Minn and Jackie Becker of Carroll; five grandchildren: Amy Shirk, Joshua Shirk, Bryan (Lindsay Pfeifer) Bevis, Katy (Rafael Orellana) Bevis, and Ben Becker; and her sister, Peg Koeneke of Manchester.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Robinson; and by her son-in-law, Jeff “Spike” Becker

Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, at St. Edward Catholic Church with entombment in the Mount Olivet Cemetery Columbarium. Public visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Mary was an avid sports fan and loved crafts. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
