Jesup, Iowa – Earl E. Schmit, 66 years old, of Jesup, died Sunday, December 17, 2017, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa.

Funeral Services will 10:30 a.m. - Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, Iowa, with burial at St. Athanasius Cemetery, Jesup. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a 4:00 p.m., Knights of Columbus Rosary and a 6:00 p.m., Vigil Service. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Earl was born February 21, 1951, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Lawrence Jacob Schmit and Mildred (Schares) Schmit. He graduated from Jesup High School with the Class of 1970. On June 3, 1978, he was united in marriage to Cindy Joan Nagel at St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Jesup. Earl worked on the assembly line at John Deere in Waterloo. He was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus Council 8227 in Jesup and UAW Local 838 in Waterloo.

Earl is survived by his wife Cindy; one daughter, Danielle Schmit; and one son Adam Schmit; all of Jesup; also six brothers, LeRoy (Joan) Schmit, Cleo (Evelyn) Schmit, Neil (Patti) Schmit, Duane (Annette) Schmit, Alfred (Lisa) Schmit, Clyde (Brenda) Schmit, all of Jesup; two sisters, Audrey (Brad) Huff and Mary Ann Schmit of Marion, IA; also, a sister-in-law, Janie Schmit and his mother-in-law, Marlys Nagel both of Jesup.

His parents; one brother, Ernie Schmit; one sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Jack Weber, and his father-in-law, Paul Nagel, preceded him in death.
