Annie Lue (Manning) Coleman was born in Greenwood, Mississippi, on March 7, 1937. She was the 3rd child of 14 born to Milton Manning and Annie Lue (Watson) Manning. At the age of 14, she left home to pursue educational opportunities, and her quest brought her to Waterloo, Iowa. Annie worked several jobs and received her GED. This was a proud moment in her life that came as a result of commitment and hard work.

On November 5, 1960, she married the love of her life, Leon Coleman, and together they raised 4 children. Annie Coleman’s work career spanned several decades. She worked many jobs retiring from john Deere in the mid 80’s. Following retirement she travelled with her husband to various parts of the United States. Annie had a strong love for Christ and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Her favorite scripture was John 3:16, and as the verse states she believed in the promise of eternal life. Annie will always be remembered for her love of family, friends and her willingness to lend a helping hand or a supporting ear.

Annie Coleman died at the age of 80 on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at Unity Point Health-Allen Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Coleman; her parents; one brother, William Manning; and a step-son, Terry Joe Beltran. Annie Coleman is survived by her two daughters, mary (Michael) Cook of Waterloo and Kiley Ann “Angel” Coleman of Jacksonville, FL; her two sons, Rick Coleman of Cedar Falls and Troy (Lisa) Coleman of Waterloo; two step-daughters, Gloria Jean Bradford and Tanja McClellen; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; three brothers; nine sisters; a host of nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Wilda Bowman.

Annie Coleman will be remembered for her beauty, sage advice, and she will be missed by the family and friends she loved so much.
