Biography--

Ronald Wayne “Ron” Parkhurst, 71, of Denver, passed away Saturday, December 2, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital, Waterloo, under Hospice Care.

He was born October 17, 1946, in Hampton, son of Dale and Evelyn (Stock) Parkhurst. He served as Corporal in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War where he earned a Purple Heart. He married Paulette J. Wilson on October 2, 1971. He worked at John Deere for 34 years, retiring in September of 2006.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandpa. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, golf, designing and building projects, and living in the country. His passion and determination in life is inspiring.

Ron is survived by his wife of 46 years, Paulette Parkhurst; a son, Shawn (Wendy) Parkhurst; a daughter, Kimberly Gomez; two granddaughters, Whitney and Christina Parkhurst; two grandsons, John Cade and David Little: three brothers, Bob (Sue) Parkhurst, Rick (Sherry) Parkhurst, Randy Parkhurst; and two sisters, Rose Morton and Radine (Leon) Fowler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Brad Gomez.
