Obituary for Harold L. Waschkat

U.S. VETERAN

Harold L. Waschkat 86, of Waterloo died Monday November 6, at Western Home Communities - Martin Center.

He was born January 16, 1931, in Bremer County the son of Louis and Martha Schellhorn Waschkat. He married Jean Adams in Waterloo in 1961 and they later divorced. He then married Eleanor Delagardelle in 1993 in Las Vegas.

Harold served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed as the Chief Plumbing Inspector for the city of Waterloo until he retired. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 125 and the American Legion.

Survived by: his wife, Eleanor; four daughters, Pamela Waschkat of Jacksonville, FL, Sandy (Eric) Heinen of Cedar Falls, Bonnie (Tony) Gesell of Cedar Falls, and Sharon Waschkat of Cedar Falls; two stepsons, Craig (Dori) Delagardelle of Ketchum, Idaho, and Bryan (Lesa) Delagardelle of Springville, Ark.; a stepdaughter, Denise Schaefer of Waterloo; two sisters, Loretta Mahlstedt of Tripoli and Vera Collins of Denver, IA; three grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, Lavern Waschkat and Raymond Waschkat; and three sisters, Eldora Eick, Rosinda Schweer, and Glenyce Axon.

Services 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 11, at Nazareth Lutheran Church Chapel, Cedar Falls with burial at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by the Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31, assisted by the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Public visitation from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
