Biography--

Ralph E. Bloker, 94, of Janesville, Iowa, died Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Sunset Nursing Home in Denver, Iowa.

He was born January 11, 1923, on a farm in Janesville, Bremer County, Iowa, the son of Forrest John and Bessie Marian (Benjamin) Bloker.

Ralph attended Janesville School. He married Dorothy Johanna Johnson on December 22, 1946 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.

He worked at Rath Packing for nine years, but was a farmer for most of his life.

He was a life-long farmer and took great pride in his farm. His strength and determination were an inspiration to those who knew him. His witty sense of humor brought smiles to many. Ralph loved nothing more than farming and watching his children and grandchildren grow.

He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and woodworking. He enjoyed sharing memories of the good ol’ days. Ralph loved talking about his Harley motorcycle and the cars that he had and the tractors he used for farming. He enjoyed the trips he and Dorothy took and enjoyed sharing those stories. He dearly loved his wife of nearly 71 years, his children, and grandchildren.

Ralph was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly. He was baptized May 23, 1947 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.

He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by: his wife, Dorothy; three sons: Steven Bloker of Shell Rock, Kenneth (Julie) Bloker of Clarksville, and Roger (Jessica) Bloker of Janesville; three daughters: Cheryle (Darvin) Arjes of Greene, Marie (Randy) Rieken of Waverly, and Laurie (Warren) Nagen of Waverly; 18 grandchildren: Robyn (Kirk) Wunsch, Rodney (Cindy) Arjes, Ryan (Gail) Arjes, Robert Bloker, Stephanie Gierke, Jeremy (Shawni) Rieken, Jennifer Aswegan, Jessica (Tom) Wheeler, Gail (Tim) Sinram, Nick (Aleshia) Bloker, Madison Bloker, Makenzie Bloker, MaKade Bloker, Mollie Bloker, Adrianna (Caley) Cavanaugh, Brooke (Brady) Bloker, Chloe Bloker, and Cassandra Nagen; 28 great-grandchildren: Channing Wunsch, Jaret Wunsch, Trevor Reysack, Alexa Reysack, Maci Arjes, Kaci Arjes, Morgan Arjes, Tanner Arjes, Zander Gierke, Jeremiah Bloker, Caleb Rieken, Kennedy Rieken, Brady Thompson, Taylor Aswegan, Dawson Wheeler, Jaxon Wheeler, Logan Wheeler, Jessica (Josh) Woltz, Thomas (Caley) Wheeler, Nick Wheeler, Nicholas Sinram, Brandon Sinram, Gavin Sinram, Nevaeh Bloker, Savannah Bloker, Grayson Bloker, Harper Cavanaugh, and Michael Cavanaugh; three great-great-grandchildren: Kyler Reysack, Aubrie Woltz, and Grace Woltz; and a sister, Evelyn Wubbena of Waverly.

Ralph was preceded in death by: his parents, Forrest and Bessie; his stepmothers: Bea and Elsie; a brother, Clarence Bloker, and a sister in infancy.
