Frank D. Robins

October 4, 1940 - October 30, 2017

Frank Delano Robins Sr., 77, met Jesus peacefully Monday at his home in Raymond, Iowa. He leaves his wife of 48 years, Carolyn Sue; brother and sister-in-law Jack and Gladys; 10 children; 27 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren with a void that will never be replaced. Frank truly was the steel of the family.

Born in Camp, Arkansas, on October 4th, 1940, Frank moved several times between Iowa and Arkansas until he purchased a gas station in Clinton, Iowa. Frank moved to the Waterloo, Iowa area in the early 1960s and spent the remainder of his years in the Waterloo area raising his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Frank loved taking his children camping until his love for indoor toilets trumped his urge to rough it. Frank was very proud of his children and grandchildren that serve our great nation in the United States Air Force, United States Army, United States Marine Corp and United States Navy.

Frank held many jobs over his 77-years of life, but none more important to him than serving God. Frank was a deeply religious man and lived his retirement years as an example to others. He studied his bible every day, marking his studies with his bookmark and Friend to Friend daily devotional.

No matter what chaos was being caused by the seemingly hundreds of grand and great-grandchildren, he could be found at the head of the table every morning with his attention undivided in his bible. The last bible verse he read before meeting Jesus was Luke 22:16. Frank attended Faith Wesleyan, Maywood Wesleyan and finally Assembly of God. He is smiling at this moment in the warmth of God's arms watching all of his children warmly remembering him.

Frank requests no flowers be sent to his funeral. In lieu of flowers, he requests donations be sent to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Iowa in honor of his grandson, Jacob Nieman. The viewing will be held Hagarty Waychoff Grarup Funeral Service on South Street at 4pm on Thursday, November 2nd, 2017 with a prayer service at 7pm. Funeral services will be held at Faith Assembly of God, 5112 Lafayette Rd, Elk Run Heights, at 10:30am on Friday, November 3, 2017. Lunch will be at the church following the service. Interment will be held privately with the family members.
