Private family services will be held

Cemetery:
Memorial Park Cemetery, Waterloo.
With military rites conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19, Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and the Iowa Army National Guard.

Memorials:
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for Beau’s Beautiful Blessings- A place to play, a park for all children – special needs and all kids to play side-by-side.

Biography--

Ralph James Garvey, age 94, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, in Waterloo, on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.

He was born on July 8, 1923, in Waterloo; the son of William and Esther Fischer Garvey. Ralph graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1941. He served in the United States Army during World War II, he received an honorable discharge in 1946.

He married Wilma Lee Curtis on August 28, 1946, in Waterloo, she preceded him in death on October 26, 1992.

Ralph worked as an agent for Chicago Great Western Railroad from the mid 1940's until his retirement in 1987. He attended Grace Methodist Church on E. 5th Street in Waterloo for many years.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol (Ron) DeWitt of Hudson, IA; a son, Martin (Toni) Garvey of Virginia Beach, VA; a brother, Robert Garvey of Hudson, IA; five grandchildren, Stephanie Sorensen, Jason DeWitt, Amanda Weichers, Patrick Garvey and Kaitlyn Garvey; seven great-grandchildren, Heather Nicholson, Samantha Tetmeyer, Tyler Sorensen, Lucas DeWitt, Emma DeWitt, Beau Weichers and Delaney Weichers; and two great-great-grandchildren, Quentin Nicholson and Alice Nicholson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and three sisters, Marian Wright, Ruth Rausch, and Roe Anne Mathys.
