Biography--

Gene Evely, 91, of Waterloo passed peacefully Friday, September 22, 2017 at Country View Care Center in Waterloo.

He was born June 19, 1926 in Mt. Vernon Township, son of John and Vera Draper Evely and graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1944.

He married Susan and they divorced in 1975.

Gene served his country in World War II in the US Army in the South Pacific theater and during the occupation of Japan. Upon his release from the Army, he obtained his degree from ISU and farmed in the Waterloo area for many years.

Survivors include his sister: Avis (Ted) Heger, Holland, MI; niece, Elise Heger and nephew, Erich Heger; and cousins, Lois Marsch and Robert "Bob" King, both of Waterloo.
