Biography--

Jacob H. Hazlet Sr., 93, of Cedar Falls, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017 at Friendship Village in Waterloo.

Jacob was born on November 16, 1923 in Decatur, Illinois, son of Jake and Josephine (Rosan) Hazlet.

He was united in marriage with Jennie J. Alexander on March 25, 1944 in Salem, Illinois. She preceded him in death on December 22, 2013. He served his country in the United States Marines during World War II.

Jacob worked for Viking Pump in the stock room before his retirement in 1985. He was a member of Ridgeway Bethel Baptist Church in Waterloo.

Survivors include his four children: Nira (Richard) Achey of Waterloo; Steven (Linda) Hazlet of Waterloo; David (Linda) Hazlet of Yuma, AZ, and Kathy Martinson of Newton; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Florence Marsh of Montgomery, AL.

Preceded in death by his wife; a son, Jacob Hazlet II; a son-in-law, Gary Martinson; a grandson, Michael Martinson; a sister, Rosalie “Rose” Ballantini; five brothers, Arvil, William Edward, Eldon Eugene, Robert “Rocky” and Delmas “Dick” Hazlet.
