Services:
Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Garden View Chapel, 3655 Logan Ave., Waterloo, IA

Visitation:
Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm at Locke Funeral Home, 1519 W. 4th St., and one hour prior to services Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Garden View Chapel, 3655 Logan Ave.

Cemetery:
Burial will be Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138, VFW Post 1623 and the Iowa Army National Guard.

Biography--

Alvin G. Marken, 90, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at UnityPointHealth Allen Memorial in Waterloo.

Alvin was born September 2, 1926 in Hampton, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Hazel Fitz Marken.

Alvin served in the United States Army from 1945, until being honorably discharged in 1947. He was awarded with the Army Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal in Germany.

Alvin was united in marriage to Clemie Lee Shook on June 3, 1956 at Central Christian Church in Waterloo. He worked with his father at Marken Motor Company as a mechanic until entering the service. After the service, he worked at Tate Cadillac then at John Deere as a Mechanic in the truck shop, retiring in 1987.

Alvin was a longtime member of Central Christian Church, (church meant a great deal to him), and the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening, bowling and in his later years woodworking. Alvin loved spending time with his family.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Clemie Marken of Cedar Falls, IA, a son, Todd Marken of Ossian, three grandchildren, Anna, Sabrina and John Marken, two sisters, Mary (Warren) Potter of Rochester, MN and Jeanne (Ed Holm) Wilcox of Las Vegas, NV, a sister-in-law June Marken of Cedar Falls and his nieces and nephews.

Alvin is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Gerald Marken
