Obituary for Misty Kay Russell Newell

Misty Kay Russell Newell, 43, of Waterloo, died Thursday August 3.

She was born October 20, 1973 at the Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha, Neb., daughter of Robert Russell and Sherrie and Jerry Peters.

Misty graduated from Columbus in 1992 and earned a degree in cosmetology at La James International College in Cedar Falls.

She is survived by: a daughter, Alexis (Jake) Austin of Independence; two sons, Austin & Andrew McGrane both of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Daniel, Ava, Owen, Kennery, Lincoln, & Oliver; her mother & step father, Sherrie & Jerry Peters of Waterloo; her father, Robert Russell of Schertz, Texas; a brother Eric Russell of Waterloo; two half brothers Robert (Jen) & Pat (Daisy) Russell of San Antonio, Texas; a half sister Rochelle (Josh) Vestal of Schertz Texas; a step sister, Karen Peters of LaPorte City; two step brothers, Gary Peters of LaPorte City and Jimmy Peters of Florida; special friends, Tom Foster and Lisa & Eric Buck.

Preceded in death by maternal grandparents Ernest & Wilda Belew and paternal grandparents LeRoy ("Tiny") & Jo Russell.
