Obituary for Ronald L. Carleton

Ronald Lee Carleton, 52, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, August 15 at home.

Ronald was born May 6, 1965, in Millington, TN, the son of Charlie Weigel and Charlotte Free Hatch. He was immediately placed for adoption with William L. Jr. and Dorothy M. Carleton. He married Gina Damon on November 29, 1996, at St. Edward Catholic Church, Waterloo.

Ronald was employed as a radio announcer, audio production specialist, and copywriter for over 25 years and also worked in mortgage financing, directory assistance, and emergency 911 communications.

Survivors include: his wife, Gina of Waterloo; three children, Cheyenne, Jonah, and Elijah Carleton all of Waterloo; four biological sisters, Jo Ann (Harry) Eddy of Salt Springs, FL, Kim (Douglas) Collier of Escondido, CA, Cindy (Jay) Derrico of Camarillo, CA, and Jennifer (Don) Sparks of Liberty, MO.; two biological brothers, Chuck Weigel of Madisonville, TN, and John Weigel of Gainesville, FL.; father and mother- in-law, Dennis and Collen Damon of Waterloo; a brother and sister-in-law, Lt. Col. Cory and Emily Damon of Vacaville, Calif; several nieces and nephews; he is also survived by his best friend Patrick Taylor of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by: his adoptive parents, William and Dorothy Carleton, three sisters, Debra, Sharon, and Tammy; his adoptive maternal grandparents, Eldon and Hattie High and his paternal adoptive grandparents, William L. Sr. and Nettie Pauline Carleton.

Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 19, at St. Edward Catholic Church with inurnment in Waterloo Cemetery. Public visitation from 4-7 p.m. Friday, August 18, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. There will not be visitation at the church on Saturday.
