Obituary for Alva E. Hunter

Alva E. Hunter 86, of Waterloo, died Wednesday July 19, at Covenant Medical Center. He was born December 29, 1930 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Lloyd and Mila Hahn Hunter. He married Beverly Andreassen June 19, 1951, in Waterloo.

Alva was employed as a mechanic with John Deere for 32 years. He retired in 1992.

He is survived by his wife; three sons: Todd Hunter of Waterloo, Kevin Hunter of Waterloo, and Fran (Martha) Tootill of Des Moines; two daughters, Kim (Mark) Wolkenhauer of Waterloo and Kay (Rick) Edwards of St. Louis, Mo; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded death by his parents; and by a son, Rick.

Service: 6:00 p.m. Tuesday July 25, at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church in Waterloo. A public visitation will be from 4-6:00 p.m. at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the family.

He loved his family, fishing (especially his trips to Canada), playing Santa Clause, and being a “backyard botanist”.
