Al Strubel, 93, of Waterloo, Iowa, formerly of Baraboo, Wisconsin, died at UnityPoint Health--Allen Hospital on Wednesday, June 28, 2017.
Albert Vincent Strubel was born April 5, 1924 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of William and Helena Schmitt Strubel. He married Jean Huhta and they later divorced. He married Betty Jane Whitney on July 15, 1974 in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
He farmed and worked at Baraboo Power Equipment building hydraulic jacks and retired in 1981. He also had worked at Badger Army Ammunition Plant in Baraboo. He and Betty owned trailer courts in Baraboo and North Freedom.
Al had attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Waterloo.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; four daughters: Pamela (Jerry) Zimmerlee of Michigan, Debra Hughes of McKinney, Texas, Karen (John) Olsen of Milwaukee, WI and Rebecca (Joe) Dorschied of Stoughton, WI; three stepsons: Bill (Carla) Artamenko of Oroville, CA, Bob Artamenko and Bert Whitney, both of Waterloo; a stepdaughter, Kathy (Mike) Strubel of La Porte City, IA; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Al is preceded in death by three brothers: Charles, Bill and Edward Strubel; and five sisters: Mary Ebaugh, Josie Kryinski, Ann Herman, Dorothy Voght and Helena Strausburger.
