David M. Deeds

March 11, 1943 - June 18, 2017

David M. Deeds 74, of Cedar Falls, died on a beautiful Father’s Day morning surrounded by his family, June 18, 2017, in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

He was born March 11, 1943, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Carl L. and Evelyn Nagle Deeds. He married Carole Flener on September 12, 1964.

David graduated from East High School in Waterloo. He served in the US Army. He was stationed at Ft. Riley, KS, Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, and Kaiserslautern, Germany. He worked at John Deere Tractor Works for 30 years, retiring in 1996.

David was a proud lifetime member of Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 and a member of the American Legion in Gladstone, MI, Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE) 764 Waterloo and FOE 4074 Cedar Falls and the NRA.

David is survived by his wife, Carole; a son, David of Waterloo; two daughters, Angela (George) Virgilio of West Creek, NJ, and Melissa (Tom) Kurth of Fredericksburg VA; six grandchildren, Quincy, Alexis and Gabriel Virgilio and Samantha, Thomas and Alexander Kurth; a brother, Richard (Sandy) Deeds of Manns Choice, PA; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and Halley Jane.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Betty Kies; two brothers, Carl F. and Donald L. Deeds.

David was an honorable man and loved the Lord, his family and his country. David and Carole formed the musical group “Sweet Memories” and entertained at many venues throughout the Cedar Valley. David enjoyed operating the sound system while listening to Carole sing.
