Floyd Howard McElhaney was born November 24, 1951, in Waterloo, son of Howard and Irene “Jean” (Spooner) McElhaney. He attended schools in Waterloo graduating with the West High School Class of 1970. Floyd served his country in the United States Navy being honorably discharged in 1970.

He married Nancy Jean Harris on June 10, 1972, at Grace Brethren Church. Floyd worked for RUAN Truck Leasing from November of 1974 – August of 2005, then Brown National Lease from August 2005 – December 2012. He worked part-time doing construction most of his life. Floyd was a lifetime member of the AMVETS Post 31 in Evansdale, Harleys & Hotrods, Abate District 16, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

Floyd will be remembered as a jack of all trades, master of none. He loved being outdoors hunting and fishing, mowing lawns and camping. However, his kids and grandkids, related or not, were his life!

Floyd passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at the age of 65 years of age.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Brenda Gingrich; and his sister-in-law, Patricia McElhaney.

Floyd is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy; his children, Andrew (Kim) McElhaney and Alynn (Ryan) Reuter; two brothers, John (Donna) McElhaney of Waterloo and Jeff (Kim) McElhaney of Dry Branch, GA; five grandsons: Mitchell (Calli Anderson) McElhaney, Dakota McElhaney, Brandon McElhaney, Kalib Reuter and Tucker Reuter; and one granddaughter, Kylee Reuter.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
