Biography--

Donald J. Tandy, 82, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Cedar Valley Home.

He was born on July 18, 1934 in Washington, Iowa, the son of MJ and Erma (Visser) Tandy.

Donald attended Reinbeck High School and received his bachelor’s degree at the University of Iowa. He continued his education at Missouri State University where he obtained his master’s degree.

He married Marlys Robinson in 1956 in Reinbeck; they were later divorced. He married Cheryl Reymer-Sasse in 1993 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Donald was a teacher for many years starting at Dysart High School and working more than 32 years at Peet Junior High School in Cedar Falls.

Donald was a member of First United Methodist Church in Waterloo. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He liked to work in his yard and cherished the time he spent outdoors.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl; four children: Linda (Bill) Kline; Kate (Chris) Luchtel; Sara Johnson; and Matt (Jeong) Tandy; two stepchildren, Aaron and Andrea Sasse; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers: Karl (Karen) Tandy and Dick (Laura) Tandy; a sister-in-law, Linde Tandy; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and his brother, Keith Tandy.
