CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Calvin J. Meyer, 88, of Cedar Falls died Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Western Home Communities - Nation Cottage.

He was born July 23, 1928 in New Underwood, South Dakota, son of Leo and Lucy (Steffan) Meyer. He married Alice Burger on June 11, 1955, in Raymond, Iowa.

He graduated from New Underwood High School and earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from South Dakota State University. He was employed as manager of material engineering with John Deere PEC, retiring in 1993.

He is survived by his wife of Cedar Falls; a son, Steve (Flo) Meyer of Elko, MN; daughter, Kathy (Glen) Fry of Boulder, CO; four grandchildren: Christina and Eric Meyer, Corbin and Conner Fry; and a brother, Bill Meyer of Owanka, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Craig Meyer; and a brother, Daniel Meyer.

Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, where there will be a 4 p.m. Rosary. Visitation also for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or the family.
