Biography--

Lenna H. Darland, 99, of Waterloo, died at UnityPoint Health‑Allen Hospital Saturday, June 3, 2017.

She was born March 28, 1918, in Ojai, Calif., daughter of Leonard and Edna Rose Howell.

She married Floyd Wendell Darland March 28, 1938 in Waterloo. He died April 1, 2002. Lenna graduated from Waterloo East High School. After high school she worked at Black's Department Store and in the office at Rath Meat Packing Co.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church; past president of PEO Chapter FE, past president of PEO Guild, past president and lifetime member of Waterloo Women’s Club; noble dame and treasurer of Waterloo Elklets; and held multiple offices in UCT Auxiliary culminating in being senior counselor and longtime treasurer.

She was proud she never had to use a calculator—always did the math in her head. Lenna enjoyed her children, husband, friends and organizations; traveling and playing Bridge. She liked going on day trips in the car with Floyd and later in life they became world travelers.

Lenna is survived by her son, Terry of Waterloo; daughter, Diane Grant and her husband Jack of St. Louis, Missouri; and grandson, Kurt (Amy Rengers) Walther of Pittsburgh, Penn.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
