Biography--

Kenneth “Kenny” Harrison MacDonald, 85, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at UnityPoint Health ‑ Allen Hospital in Waterloo, on Thursday, April 20, 2017.

Kenny was born on February 3, 1932, in Waterloo, Iowa, son of Harry and Ada Elizabeth (Wood) MacDonald.

He graduated from the Iowa School of the Deaf in Council Bluffs in 1948 and then from Waterloo West High School in 1950.

Kenny married Carol Joyce Englehorn on June 23, 1957 in Lansing, Iowa.

He worked for Morris Printing, and then he was a printer for John Deere for 30 years before retiring on June 30, 1986.

Kenny was a member of Hagerman Baptist Church, UAW 838, Cedarloo Association of the Deaf, and the Iowa Association of the Deaf.

Kenny had a heart of gold and was always helping others before himself. He loved tinkering with radios, TVs, and record players, as well as tele-type devices. While he was working on his projects, Kevin and Curtis were his ears. He never threw anything away. Kenny enjoyed eating at Village Inn and going to Hy-Vee for breakfast.

He is survived by: his wife, Carol MacDonald of Waterloo; two sons: Kevin (Carmen) MacDonald of Waterloo and Curtis MacDonald of Brookfield, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

Kenny was preceded in death by: three sisters: Ivy Janet MacDonald in infancy, Francis Dickson, and Grace Neil.
