Biography--

Irene Marie Johnson 84, of Waterloo, died Friday, April 14, 2017 at Friendship Village Pavilion.

Irene was born November 4, 1932 in Breckenridge, Minnesota, daughter of Henry and Clara Jorgensen Larson. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1950 and received her BS Degree in Nursing from the University of Minnesota in 1955. Irene married Glen A. Johnson December 27, 1956 in Doran, Minnesota. Glen preceded her in death on October 27, 2011.

Irene was a registered nurse for hospitals in North Dakota from 1955 to 1958 until coming to Waterloo and working for Allen Memorial Hospital in the Women’s Health Center for 21 years. She retired in 1988. Irene was a long time member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Johnson of Plymouth, Minnesota; a son, Gregory Johnson of Washington, Maine, and two sisters, Janet Johnson of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, and Maxine Horvath of Fountain Hills, Arizona.
