Obituary for Elizabeth Louise Crowley--

Elizabeth Louise Crowley, 48, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 28, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

She was born October 26, 1968, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of James and Charlene Western Montgomery. She married Ninevah Scott Crowley on September 5, 1998 in Waterloo.

Liz graduated from Waterloo East High School and the University of Iowa where she earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Elementary Education and a Masters in Educational Administration. She taught at Polk Elementary School in Cedar Rapids. In 1998, she was appointed principal of Grant Elementary School and in 2001 was chosen to be the first principal of The Dr. Walter Cunningham School of Excellence. She was currently the principal at Lou Henry Elementary School.

Survivors include her husband, Scott of Waterloo; two children, Nia of Waterloo and Brandon of Boston, MA; her mother, Charlene Montgomery of Waterloo; her brother, Travis Montgomery of Carmel, IN; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Montgomery Jr.; paternal grandparents, James Sr. and Narvel Montgomery; maternal grandparents, Todd and Grace Western.

Memorials may be directed to Elizabeth Crowley Educational Fund at Veridan Credit Union.

Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 3, at Antioch Baptist Church with burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, April 2, and one hour prior to services all at the church. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street is in charge of arrangements.
