Obituary for Donald S. Warner--

Donald S. Warner, 86, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Rosewood Estates.

He was born December 8, 1930 in Nevada, Iowa, the son of Donald Johnson and Edna Ruth Scott Warner. He married Jean “Bobbie” Harper on December 18, 1953, in Waco, Texas.

Donald graduated from Roosevelt High School, Des Moines, and served as a Staff Sergeant Drill Instructor, with the U.S. Air Force, on the Conley Air Force Base, Waco, Texas, during the Korean War. He was owner of Blackhawk Sprinklers.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters: Paula (Robert) Fontanini of La Porte City, Connie (Jim) Rowland of Texas and Becky (Ron) Wilberding of Jesup; seven grandchildren: Michael, Christopher, Laura, Patricia, Evan, Anna, and Kylie; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Judith Ann Zimmerman of Rochester, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private services will be held Monday, April 17 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by the Waterloo and Evansdale Amvets Posts 19 & 31, and the Offutt Air Force Military Honor Group. Public visitation will be from 10-11 am Monday at the funeral home.

Donald’s love of his life was his wife Bobbie. He simply enjoyed the outdoors by walking and gardening and was a fair and honest man. He was always known for doing the right thing and giving everyone a fair shake.
