Obituary for Jerry L. Jenkins

Jerry L. Jenkins, Sr., 84, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Friday June 9 at United Point Health-Allen Hospital.

He was born August 30, 1932 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Fay and Harriette Joyner Jenkins. He married Rose Mary Kuriger June 14, 1954, in Cedar Falls. She died in 2013.

Jerry was employed with John Deere for 36 years as a utility repairman and retired in 1990. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict.

Jerry is survived by three sons: Daniel (Julie), Jeffrey (Sandy), and Jerry Jr., all of Waterloo; three brothers, Bill Howard of Waterloo, Rick (Kay) Howard of Jesup, and Tom Jenkins of Sylacauga, AL; two sisters, Sherri Johnson of Waterloo, and Joy (Horace) Spruill of Hampton, VA; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Dean; a sister, Sondra Kline; and a great-grandchild, Ezra.
