Obituary for Vivian J. Coughlin

Vivian J. Coughlin, 81, died Wednesday, April 12, at the Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

She was born November 11, 1935, in Raymond, Iowa, the daughter of John and Emma Hemmer. She married Clair Coughlin on June 11, 1955 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Waterloo, Iowa.

Vivian was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was a dedicated altar server for 10 years at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in The Villages, Fla. She lived her faith throughout her life and was a positive influence on everyone with whom she came in contact.

Survivors include her husband; three sons: Jeffrey of St. Charles, Iowa, Kevin (Donna) of Rochester, Minn., and Craig (Bobbi) of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Cindy (Brad) Thompson of Lenexa, Kan. and Angie (John) Scott of Park View, Iowa; a brother, Raymond Hemmer of Waterloo; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and Richard Hemmer, and a sister, Lillian Buzynski.

Services: Tuesday, April 18, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with inurnment at Mt. Olivet cemetery at a later date. Public visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, April 17 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 5 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or the Cedar Valley Catholic Schools.
