Obituary for Georgia "Dolly" Schwickerath Bashta

Georgia “Dolly” Schwickerath Bashta, 71, died at Ravenwood Nursing Home April 19, 2017.

She was born March 8, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the daughter of Arthur and Frances O’Brien Schwickerath. She married John Thomas and had one daughter. They divorced. She married Michael Bashta in Florida, but she missed home so they returned here.

She graduated from Cedar Falls High School and attended beauty school then later went to work in accounting at John Deere. She lived in Connecticut and Florida for several years. After returning to Iowa, she worked several different jobs.

Dolly was a loving wife, parent and friend. She touched everyone she knew in her own special way. Family was very important to her. She was a very caring person, always there when needed - no questions - no second thought. She was a very happy person who tried to share her happiness with others. Dolly loved her family, her dog Ginger, and being a homemaker. She loved knitting, gardening, cooking, playing pool, bowling, and taking day trips with her husband Michael.

She is survived by her husband, Michael; her biological mother, Gertrude Jacobson of Dysart; a daughter, Terri Lee (Scott) Toothman of Hackensack, Minn.; a brother, Eugene (Sandee) Schwickerath of Cedar Falls; three half-brothers, Carl (Michele) Jacobsen, Mike (Cheryl) Jacobsen and Joe (Lori) Jacobsen; two half-sisters, Connie Sluder and Joyce (Mike) Chesser; three granddaughters and two great-granddaughters; a great-aunt, Elizabeth Kruger of Prospect, Ky; and by nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents and two nephews.
