Charles “Charlie” Seaton Moon was born December 21, 1953, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Seaton and Betty (King) Moon. He was raised in Cedar Falls and graduated from Cedar Falls High School with the Class of 1972. Charlie earned his Associates Degree in Electronics and worked as a television technician until he began his career with John Deere as a machinist.

He met Donna Binkholder through work and the couple married on June 26, 1982. Charlie enjoyed pitching horseshoes, flying airplane gliders, and +racing slot and RC cars. He loved classic muscle cars and bought a 1967 Nova. Charlie spent a lot of time repairing things for his own family as well as friends and neighbors. He will be remembered as a considerate and sweet man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren most of all.

Charlie passed away at the age of 63 years on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Rodger; nephew, Brian VanWoert; and his father-in-law, Forrest Binkholder.

Charlie is survived by his parents; beloved wife, Donna; two daughters: Mary (Shawn) Oelmann of Clarksville and Theresa Moon (Matt Pope) of Waterloo; five grandchildren: Madison, Mason, Molly, Jace, and Ryan; a brother, Tom (Linda) Moon of Waterloo; a sister, Linda (Dave) VanWoert of Urbandale; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Binkholder; Sisters-in-law, Cheryl (Bill) Hussey and Debbie (Kenny) Budnik; and Brother-in-law, Jerry (Tina) Binkholder; many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces; and many friends.

Memorials may be directed to South Waterloo Church of the Brethren or Cedar Valley Hospice.
