Doris Lucile Dilley was born June 25, 1927 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Glen & Gladys (Schott) Fairbanks. She was raised in Waterloo and graduated from New Hartford High School.

Doris was married to Gordon Matson in 1944 for 30 years until his death. She was, then, married to Francis Dilley from 1975 until his death in 1996. Doris worked as a cook in the cafeteria at John Deere from 1964-1974. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She spent her last days in the care of her devoted children and grandchildren.

Doris passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017, at the age of 89 years at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Gordon Matson in 1974; her second husband, Frances Dilley; siblings: Betty Erwin, Vaylord Fairbanks, Bruce Fairbanks; two children: Nikki Moyer and Steven Matson; three step-children: Jim Dilley, Kathy Timmerman and Rosemary Sanford; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Doris is survived by two brothers, Leonard Fairbanks of Arizona, and Ronald Fairbanks of Wisconsin; by four sons: Dennis Matson of Waterloo, Gary Matson of Waterloo, Joseph Matson of Kansas City, MO, and Jim Matson of Vinton, Iowa; by three daughters: Diana Bluml of Waterloo, Joy Lynch of Dewar, Jeanette Meyer of Eagan, MN; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and her companion, Harlan Johnson in 2016.
