Joye L. Marquart was born on October 5, 1922, in Aurora, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Leta (Mae) Powell. She graduated from Waterloo West High. Joye was united in marriage to Vernon Parsons on August 3, 1940. He died in 1952.

On July 11, 1961, Joye married Clark Marquart. They later divorced. Joye worked at Rath Packing for 18 years. She then moved to California and worked at Burlington Air Express for 10 years, retiring in 1989. Joye died at the age of 94 on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at her home in Traer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon; a daughter, Barbara Reisenger; a sister, June Floyd.

Joye is survived by a son, Gayle (Sharon) Parsons of O’Fallon, Missouri; three daughters: Shari (Donald) Thompson of Cedar Falls, Christina (Wayne) Stalzer of Midland, Texas, and Linda (Paul) Price of Traer; a brother, Dean Powell of Thornton, Colorado; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Burial will take place in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. Please direct memorials to Joye’s family.
