Kyle Lynn Stone was born on May 17, 1971, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Donald and Kathy (Dewater) Stone. Kyle grew up in Waterloo and graduated from East High in 1989. While in high school, Kyle worked as a co-op in a scrap metal business. He eventually took over the business, now known as A-Line Iron and Metals.

Kyle married Dawn Baysinger, they later divorced. On April 2, 2011, Kyle was united in marriage to Julia Kuhn in Waterloo. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where his children went to school. He loved boating, working, and spending time with his family. Kyle died at the age of 46 on Monday, May 22, 2017, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Keith and Pearl Dewater.

Kyle is survived by his wife, Julia, of Cedar Falls; his parents of Waterloo; five children, Zachary Stone (17), Emily Stone (15), Melia Stone (11), Natalie Stone (4), and Jenna Stone (11 months); and two brothers, Shawn (Brandy) Stone of Waterloo and Adam Stone of La Porte City.

Kyle always considered himself a shepherd of his men. He showed strength and compassion for everyone he met and took care of his family and friends in any way he could. He passed along his love for knowledge and always strived to do more and be successful. He adored his family and loved taking his children on adventures to explore nature and all life had to offer. Kyle touched the lives of so many.

We hope that anyone who knew him will hold on to all the wonderful memories and continue to pass on the knowledge that they learned from him and the love that he always shared. Kyle, you will never be forgotten. Your stories are in good hands. We love you, ScrapMaster!

In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials Kyle’s family for his children’s education.
